Medical Laboratory Scientist

CommonSpirit Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to join its team in The Woodlands, Montgomery County.

About the Role

This full‑time position places you at the heart of clinical diagnostics, where your work directly supports patient care through precise laboratory analysis.

What You'll Do

• Perform a broad spectrum of laboratory tests in areas such as hematology, chemistry, and microbiology.
• Prepare and process patient specimens, ensuring proper handling and labeling.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain analytical instruments according to manufacturer and regulatory standards.
• Interpret test results, identify irregularities, and communicate findings to healthcare providers.
• Participate in quality control programs, proficiency testing, and ongoing method validation.
• Maintain accurate records in the laboratory information system and adhere to safety protocols.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other laboratory staff to optimize turnaround times.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and continuing education opportunities.

What We're Looking For

• Current MLS (ASCP) or equivalent certification.
• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
• Experience performing complex testing in a hospital or reference laboratory setting.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency with laboratory instrumentation and computerized data systems.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent communication abilities and a commitment to patient‑focused service.
• Valid state licensure where required.
