CDL-A City Truck Driver

FedEx Freight is hiring a CDL‑A City Truck Driver in Dedham, Penobscot County for a full‑time position that keeps freight moving between service centers and local customers.

About the Role

As a city driver you will be the front‑line representative of FedEx Freight, handling pickups and deliveries within the Dedham area while supporting the sales process through courteous, professional interactions.

What You'll Do

• Operate a tractor‑trailer combination, including double‑trailer setups, to transport freight safely and on schedule.
• Load and unload shipments using proper equipment, verifying cargo matches documentation.
• Conduct pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections in accordance with DOT regulations and company safety standards.
• Maintain accurate logs, bills of lading, and delivery receipts, submitting paperwork promptly.
• Provide excellent customer service at each stop, addressing questions and resolving issues to support the selling process.
• Follow all FedEx Freight safety policies, including hours‑of‑service rules and secure loading practices.
• Communicate regularly with dispatch and service center personnel to coordinate routes and report any delays or mechanical concerns.

What We're Looking For

• Valid CDL‑A license with a clean driving record.
• Minimum of six months of recent experience operating a tractor‑trailer in a city or regional environment.
• Ability to lift and move freight up to 75 pounds repeatedly, and to work in various weather conditions.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to delivering a positive customer experience.
• Basic math and reading proficiency for completing paperwork and interpreting load instructions.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule that may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
