About the Role

MidFirst Bank seeks an experienced underwriter to evaluate and structure complex commercial real estate transactions. You will partner with relationship managers, credit officers, and legal teams to ensure sound lending decisions that support the bank’s growth objectives while maintaining prudent risk standards.

What You'll Do

• Perform detailed financial analysis of income-producing properties, including office, industrial, retail, and multifamily assets.
• Prepare comprehensive credit memoranda that summarize property performance, borrower strength, market trends, and structural risks.
• Assess loan-to-value, debt service coverage, and global cash flow metrics to determine appropriate loan sizing and pricing.
• Collaborate with front‑office staff to structure loan terms that align with borrower needs and bank policy.
• Monitor existing loan portfolios for early warning signs and recommend appropriate risk‑mitigation actions.
• Stay current on regional commercial real estate dynamics, particularly within the Los Angeles County market.
• Participate in credit committee presentations and provide clear, data‑driven recommendations.

What We're Looking For

• Minimum five years of experience underwriting commercial real estate loans, preferably with a focus on income‑producing properties.
• Strong proficiency in financial modeling, ARGUS or similar cash‑flow software, and spreadsheet analysis.
• Deep understanding of CRE loan structures, including mezzanine, bridge, and permanent financing.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex credit concepts to diverse audiences.
• Proven track record of managing multiple transactions simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines.
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, real estate, economics, or a related field; CFA or CCIM designation is a plus.
• Familiarity with regulatory guidelines governing bank lending practices.
