Blue Sky Innovators is seeking a Protein Biochemistry Tech to join our Arlington, VA team in a full-time capacity. This 0.5-1.0 FTE position offers the opportunity to apply expertise in protein biochemistry, mass spectrometry, and protein engineering to support critical scientific and technical initiatives.
About the Role
As a Protein Biochemistry Technician, you will bring advanced analytical and laboratory expertise to our protein research and development programs. Your contributions will directly support the characterization, analysis, and engineering of proteins in service of our technical mission.
What You'll Do
- Conduct protein analysis and characterization using mass spectrometry techniques and instrumentation
- Support protein engineering projects from concept through experimental validation
- Execute laboratory protocols with precision and maintain comprehensive technical documentation
- Collaborate with scientific and engineering teams on technical assessments and problem-solving
- Optimize and troubleshoot analytical procedures to improve experimental efficiency and accuracy
What We're Looking For
- PhD in chemistry, biology, or a related field; combined chemistry/biology and engineering backgrounds are also considered
- Demonstrated experience in protein biochemistry, protein mass spectrometry, or protein engineering
- Secret security clearance or eligibility to obtain one (desired)
- Strong technical aptitude and hands-on laboratory skills
- Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary technical teams
Compensation and Benefits
Full-time position offering an annual salary range of $150,000–$250,000 based on education, experience, and qualifications. Blue Sky Innovators provides comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, plus 401(k) retirement plan contributions.
