IQVIA is hiring an Associate Principal Scientist specializing in Biotransformation at our Uptown, Marion County laboratory. This is a full-time scientific leadership role for an accomplished researcher ready to advance pharmaceutical innovation at scale.
About the Role
As an Associate Principal Scientist in Biotransformation, you'll lead scientific strategy and drive technical excellence in drug metabolism and chemical transformation research. IQVIA Laboratories partners with pharmaceutical companies worldwide to accelerate development timelines, and your expertise will directly shape how compounds are studied and optimized. You'll mentor scientific teams, oversee complex research projects, and contribute to the strategic direction of our biotransformation capabilities.
What You'll Do
- Design and execute biotransformation studies using in vitro, in vivo, and computational approaches
- Lead investigation of drug metabolism pathways and predict metabolite formation
- Provide scientific leadership on complex research initiatives and regulatory submissions
- Collaborate across cross-functional teams including chemistry, toxicology, and pharmacology
- Mentor junior scientists and contribute to team development
- Stay current with biotransformation science and emerging methodologies
- Support client relationships through expert consultation and scientific problem-solving
What We're Looking For
- PhD in pharmaceutical sciences, chemistry, biochemistry, or related discipline
- 7+ years of experience in drug metabolism, biotransformation, or related pharmaceutical research
- Demonstrated expertise in in vitro and in vivo biotransformation techniques
- Experience with regulatory guidance (FDA, ICH) on metabolite safety and characterization
- Strong project leadership and scientific communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and drive projects to completion in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of biotransformation biology, enzyme mechanisms, and chemical structures
