Paraeducator – Special Education – Harford Academy – 2026 – 2027 School Year

Harford Public Schools is hiring a Full-Time Paraeducator for Special Education at Harford Academy in Harford County, Maryland. Join our team and support students with diverse learning needs in a collaborative school environment.

About the Role

As a Paraeducator in Special Education, you'll work alongside special education teachers and school staff to provide direct support to students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and other learning differences. This full-time position at Harford Academy focuses on helping students succeed academically, socially, and behaviorally throughout the school day.

What You'll Do

• Provide one-on-one and small-group instructional support to students with special education needs
• Assist with classroom management and create a positive, inclusive learning environment
• Help implement behavior intervention strategies and support social-emotional development
• Work with special education staff to monitor student progress and communicate with families
• Support students in academic tasks, transitions, and daily school routines
• Maintain accurate records and documentation as required
• Adapt materials and activities to meet individual student needs under teacher direction

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or GED required
• Genuine passion for supporting students with special needs
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to remain patient, organized, and flexible in a fast-paced school setting
• Willingness to follow teacher direction and collaborate with school teams
• Physical ability to assist students as needed
• Prior experience with special education is a plus but not required
