Join Etsy as a Fraud Investigator, Marketplace Fraud in our Brooklyn, New York City office. In this full-time position, you'll safeguard our global marketplace from fraudulent activities while helping ensure trust between millions of buyers and sellers.
About the Role
Etsy connects independent entrepreneurs and creators with customers worldwide, and maintaining the security and integrity of our marketplace is essential to that mission. As a Fraud Investigator, you'll investigate cases of suspected fraud, uncover suspicious patterns in marketplace activity, and work to prevent financial and reputational harm to our community. Your work directly protects buyers and sellers and strengthens confidence in the Etsy platform.
What You'll Do
- Investigate fraud cases, including account compromise, payment fraud, and merchant abuse
- Analyze transaction data and user behavior to identify suspicious patterns and trends
- Review and respond to fraud reports from marketplace participants
- Document investigations thoroughly and clearly
- Identify systemic vulnerabilities and emerging fraud risks
- Collaborate cross-functionally to develop and implement fraud prevention strategies
- Monitor marketplace activity and flag high-risk transactions for further review
What We're Looking For
- Prior experience in fraud investigation, risk analysis, loss prevention, or a related field
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to work with complex data
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and sound judgment
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Understanding of e-commerce, marketplace operations, or payment systems (preferred)
