Norwalk Public Schools seeks an Assistant Coach for Football at Brien McMahon High School. This full-time position for the 2026-2027 school year offers an opportunity to develop and mentor student-athletes while contributing to a competitive athletic program grounded in excellence and character.
About the Role
You'll serve as an assistant coach in our football program, partnering with the head coach to prepare student-athletes for competitive success. This role combines on-field instruction with mentorship, creating an environment where players develop both as athletes and as people.
What You'll Do
- Instruct players in football fundamentals, game strategies, and advanced techniques
- Lead and oversee practice sessions with focus on skill progression and tactical readiness
- Prepare student-athletes to compete effectively in game situations
- Motivate and mentor players, reinforcing team values and sportsmanship
- Collaborate with coaching staff to design and implement training programs
- Support the academic and personal development of student-athletes
- Manage equipment, logistics, and contribute to game-day operations
What We're Looking For
- Demonstrated experience coaching football at the high school level
- Solid understanding of football fundamentals, strategy, and player development
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
- Commitment to student-athlete safety, well-being, and ethical competition
- Ability to work collaboratively within a coaching team structure
- Current or obtainable state coaching certification where required
- Dedication to developing young talent and building successful programs
