About the Role
The Boys Freshman Basketball Coach will oversee all aspects of the freshman basketball program, including practice planning, game strategy, player development, and athletic advancement. This role combines instructional leadership with competitive coaching to help young athletes build fundamental skills, basketball knowledge, and team success.
What You'll Do
- Direct daily practices and strength/conditioning sessions focused on skill development and game readiness
- Coach games and develop game plans aligned with the program's competitive goals
- Provide mentoring and leadership to freshman athletes on and off the court
- Foster a positive, inclusive team environment that emphasizes character, discipline, and athletic growth
- Collaborate with varsity coaching staff and athletic department leadership
- Maintain equipment, facilities, and program documentation as required
- Communicate regularly with student-athletes, parents, and school administration
What We're Looking For
- Valid Illinois Teaching License or ASEP Certification
- Demonstrated teaching, leadership, and interpersonal skills
- Experience coaching basketball or equivalent background working with high school athletes
- Knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategy, and training principles
- Ability to inspire and motivate young athletes to achieve their potential
- Strong communication skills and commitment to student-athlete welfare
- Must pass a physical examination and comprehensive background check
