Capital One is looking for a Product Design Manager to shape the future of premium financial experiences in our New York headquarters at Grand Central, Manhattan. As a full-time individual contributor, you'll lead design strategy for products that matter to millions of customers while building a stronger Capital One brand.
About the Role
You'll drive the design vision and execution for premium product initiatives, translating customer insights and business objectives into elegant, human-centered solutions. This is an opportunity to lead design thinking across the entire product lifecycle—from research and concept through launch and iteration—while mentoring junior designers and collaborating closely with product, engineering, and brand teams.
What You'll Do
- Develop comprehensive design strategies that balance customer needs with Capital One's business goals
- Conduct user research, synthesize findings, and translate them into actionable design recommendations
- Create and iterate on wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs for web and mobile experiences
- Lead design critiques, establish design systems and patterns, and maintain consistency across premium product ecosystems
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to scope projects, solve complex problems, and drive products from conception to launch
- Champion accessibility, usability, and brand integrity in every design decision
- Mentor and provide feedback to junior designers on your team
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in product design, UX/UI design, or a related design discipline
- Proven track record managing end-to-end product design projects and leading design strategy
- Strong portfolio demonstrating design thinking, problem-solving, and visual excellence
- Fluency with modern design tools (Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, or equivalent)
- Ability to communicate design decisions clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience mentoring designers and contributing to team growth
- Passion for financial services, premium products, or complex B2C/B2B design challenges
- Collaborative mindset with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
