Rutgers University, The State University of New Jersey, is hiring seasonal agricultural workers for the Adelphia Research Farm in Freehold. This is a hands-on position maintaining research plots and supporting field experiments under the direction of the Research Farm Manager or Field Researcher III.
About the Role
The Adelphia Research Farm conducts applied and basic agricultural research across multiple disciplines. As a seasonal agricultural worker, you'll be essential to keeping our research operations running smoothly throughout the growing season.
What You'll Do
- Maintain turfgrass and crop research plots, including soil preparation, planting, and harvest activities
- Support field experiments by monitoring plant health, taking measurements, and collecting data
- Perform general farm maintenance tasks including equipment cleaning, fence repair, and facility upkeep
- Assist with pesticide and fertilizer applications according to research protocols
- Maintain detailed records of experimental observations and farm activities
- Operate and maintain farm equipment safely under supervision
- Follow all safety protocols and research compliance procedures
What We're Looking For
- Physical ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Willingness to learn farm operations and research methodologies
- Attention to detail and reliability in record-keeping
- Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team
- Prior agricultural or farm work experience preferred but not required
- Valid driver's license helpful for equipment operation
