About the Role
As Sous Chef at this Oakland County senior living community, you'll be the backbone of our kitchen operations. You'll assist in planning and coordinating daily meal production while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and nutrition. What You'll Do
- Support the Dietary Supervisor in menu planning and kitchen operations
- Oversee food preparation and cooking while maintaining quality standards
- Ensure compliance with state, federal, and local food safety regulations
- Train and supervise kitchen staff on proper food handling and preparation techniques
- Manage inventory, ordering, and food cost control
- Monitor nutritional requirements for residents with special dietary needs
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment
- Develop and adapt recipes that meet both dietary guidelines and resident preferences
What We're Looking For
- Proven sous chef or kitchen management experience, preferably in institutional or healthcare food service
- Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- Ability to lead and motivate kitchen staff effectively
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Culinary training or equivalent hands-on experience
- Understanding of dietary restrictions and nutritional needs, particularly for senior populations
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts as needed
