Part-Time Social Media Assistant-Lead

The Pennsylvania State University is hiring a Part-Time Social Media Assistant-Lead to support our digital communications efforts in University Park, Manatee County. About the Role

As a Part-Time Social Media Assistant-Lead, you'll work alongside our communications team to build and maintain Penn State's social media presence. This position is ideal for someone who combines enthusiasm for digital storytelling with the organizational skills needed to manage multiple platforms effectively.

What You'll Do

• Create and schedule original social media content aligned with university communications goals
• Monitor social media channels and engage authentically with followers and community members
• Support content strategy development and implementation across platforms
• Collaborate with campus departments to share news, events, achievements, and announcements
• Track engagement metrics and provide insights on audience response and platform performance
• Maintain consistent brand voice, tone, and visual standards across Penn State's digital presence
• Respond professionally to inquiries, comments, and messages in a timely manner
• Assist with content calendars and ensure posting schedules are met

What We're Looking For

• Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to adapt tone for different audiences
• Active familiarity with major social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter
• Demonstrated ability to create clear, engaging, and shareable content
• Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with ability to balance multiple priorities
• Keen attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all communications
• Collaborative work style and willingness to support team members across departments
• Prior experience creating social media content or managing accounts preferred
