Role Overview

This position supports the work of the YMCA, a leading nonprofit dedicated to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Lifeguards are responsible for creating a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals while ensuring safety in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor swimming areas to prevent accidents and enforce rules
• Respond promptly to emergencies, providing first aid as necessary
• Assist swimmers in distress and provide rescue assistance
• Enforce pool rules and maintain a safe environment for all patrons
• Participate in regular training sessions and certification renewals
• Communicate effectively with staff, volunteers, and patrons

What You Bring

• A valid American Red Cross Lifeguarding certificate or equivalent
• At least one year of lifeguard experience in a pool setting
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with others
• Physical fitness and the ability to perform rescue duties
• A commitment to community service and promoting healthy living
