Vice President of Government Affairs and Advocacy

Planned Parenthood of Michigan is seeking a mission-driven Vice President of Government Affairs and Advocacy to lead its legislative, policy, and advocacy strategy from Lansing, Michigan. This senior leadership role offers a hybrid schedule combining remote work with onsite presence in Lansing.

About the Role

As Vice President of Government Affairs and Advocacy, you will shape and direct Planned Parenthood of Michigan's engagement with elected officials, policymakers, coalition partners, and community stakeholders across the state. This is a full-time, exempt position with an anticipated travel commitment of approximately 25%, ideal for an experienced advocate ready to protect and advance reproductive healthcare access throughout Michigan.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute statewide government affairs, legislative, and public policy strategy.
• Build and sustain relationships with lawmakers, government agencies, and advocacy coalitions.
• Lead grassroots and organizational advocacy initiatives that mobilize supporters around key issues.
• Monitor and analyze pending legislation and regulatory changes affecting reproductive health.
• Represent the organization's interests before legislative bodies and within public forums.
• Guide and support advocacy and government affairs staff in achieving policy objectives.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership in government relations, public policy, advocacy, or a closely related field.
• Strong understanding of Michigan's legislative and political landscape.
• Demonstrated ability to influence policy outcomes and build effective coalitions.
• Excellent communication, strategic planning, and stakeholder management skills.
• Willingness to travel roughly 25% and work a hybrid schedule based in Lansing.

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation for this role starts at $160,000 per year.
