The Opportunity
Travel Nurses, Inc. is recruiting an experienced RN for a focused travel nursing role in Labor & Delivery. You'll work full-time on a schedule of 36 hours per week in 12-hour shifts, allowing you to maximize your income while maintaining work-life balance. The assignment begins as soon as possible and runs for 13 weeks, providing ample time to make a meaningful clinical impact in the Reston area.
Your Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to laboring patients from admission through delivery and early postpartum recovery
- Monitor fetal status continuously using electronic fetal monitoring equipment and interpret findings accurately
- Work collaboratively with physicians, midwives, and the interdisciplinary delivery team to achieve optimal maternal and fetal outcomes
- Educate patients and families about labor progression, pain management options, and postpartum expectations
- Perform clinical assessments, monitor vital signs, and administer medications within scope of nursing practice
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic health record system
- Respond to high-acuity situations and potential complications with sound clinical judgment
Who We're Looking For
- Active RN licensure in Virginia or eligibility to obtain Virginia licensure
- Hands-on experience working in Labor & Delivery nursing settings
- Strong clinical skills in maternal-fetal assessment and patient advocacy
- Ability to function effectively in fast-paced delivery environments
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities with clinical staff and patients
- Flexibility and adaptability essential for travel nursing success
