About the Role
The National Center for Computational Sciences (NCCS) is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher to lead investigations into innovative distributed storage architectures that enhance data accessibility and computational efficiency. You will conduct foundational research on application-driven approaches to composable storage systems, optimizing how data flows through complex high-performance computing environments to meet real-world research demands.
What You'll Do
- Design and evaluate distributed storage and I/O frameworks optimized for high-performance computing environments
- Investigate application-driven storage solutions that address computational bottlenecks in current systems
- Conduct experiments to measure system performance, scalability, and reliability across different workloads
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary research teams to integrate storage innovations into operational infrastructure
- Develop technical documentation and contribute to peer-reviewed publications advancing the field
- Provide insights to guide the evolution of ORNL's computational storage capabilities
What We're Looking For
- PhD in computer science, computer engineering, or closely related discipline
- Demonstrated expertise in distributed systems, storage architecture, or high-performance computing
- Hands-on experience with I/O optimization, file systems, or data management technologies
- Strong programming proficiency in systems-level languages such as C or C++
- Excellent communication skills and proven ability to collaborate on research projects
