About the Role
As a Trade Compliance Specialist at CAE, you'll serve as a key safeguard for our trade and export operations. You'll develop and enforce compliance protocols, manage documentation requirements, and help our teams navigate the intricate landscape of trade regulations, export controls, and international trade law. This is hands-on, strategic work that directly protects CAE's operations and reputation.
What You'll Do
- Review and assess trade activities, shipments, and transactions for regulatory compliance with US export control laws and international trade requirements
- Maintain accurate trade compliance documentation, databases, and audit trails to demonstrate compliance readiness during reviews or investigations
- Monitor changes to trade regulations, tariffs, and export control policies, and communicate updates to relevant departments
- Support import and export processes by verifying proper classification, licensing, and documentation
- Conduct training sessions and compliance briefings to keep internal teams informed of trade compliance obligations
- Collaborate with procurement, legal, and operations teams to identify and mitigate trade compliance risks
- Prepare compliance reports and documentation for internal and external audits or regulatory inquiries
What We're Looking For
- Knowledge of US export control laws, ITAR, EAR, OFAC sanctions, and general customs regulations
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing complex compliance documentation
- Ability to research regulations, interpret compliance requirements, and communicate technical guidance clearly
- Experience with trade compliance systems or enterprise resource planning (ERP) platforms
- Commitment to upholding ethical standards and compliance culture
- Bachelor's degree in business, law, supply chain management, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience in trade compliance
