Mid-Valley Special Education Cooperative is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant (Geneva School District 304) to support students across multiple school sites within the Geneva School District 304 area.
About the Role
This full‑time position provides classroom‑based assistance to teachers and students in special education settings, helping to create an inclusive learning environment where every learner can thrive.
What You'll Do
- Assist lead teachers with daily instructional activities and classroom management
- Support individual and small‑group student needs, including academic tasks and behavior guidance
- Help prepare learning materials, adapt resources, and maintain organized workspaces
- Monitor student progress and communicate observations to the teaching team
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities
- Ensure compliance with district policies, safety procedures, and confidentiality requirements
- Provide personal care assistance when required, such as helping with mobility or hygiene routines
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional coursework in education or child development is a plus
- Experience working with children or adolescents, preferably in a special education context
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families
- Patience, flexibility, and a collaborative mindset
- Basic proficiency with educational technology and standard office software
- Ability to follow directions accurately while exercising independent judgment when needed
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, respectful, and supportive classroom atmosphere
