About the Role

The Archdiocese of Washington is seeking a dedicated and experienced Substitute Teacher to fill a long-term position at St. John the Evangelist School in Silver Spring, Maryland for the 2026-27 school year. This role will focus on teaching Social Studies and reporting directly to the Principal.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Contributes to the acquisition of knowledge, development, and progress of students.
• Displays knowledge of subject matter in a clear and engaging manner.
• Engages with students to foster their learning and growth.
• Supports classroom management and maintains a positive learning environment.

What We're Looking For

• A minimum of 3 years of teaching experience, preferably in Social Studies or related subjects.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and administrators.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to inspire students.
• A commitment to Catholic education values and mission.
