About the Role
As Staff Scientist / Grant Writer for the Sanjana Lab at New York Genome Center, you'll play a central role in advancing our research agenda through expert scientific writing and grant proposal development. Your work directly impacts the lab's ability to maintain a strong, independently-funded research program that pushes the boundaries of genomic science.
What You'll Do
- Author and edit grant applications, proposals, and scientific communication materials across multiple genomic research domains
- Work closely with principal investigators, postdoctoral researchers, and graduate students to develop compelling funding strategies
- Transform complex scientific concepts into clear, persuasive narratives tailored to funding agencies and scientific audiences
- Support the research team in identifying funding opportunities aligned with our scientific priorities
- Contribute to expanding our research funding portfolio through strategic proposal development
What We're Looking For
- Advanced degree in biology, genomics, biochemistry, or related scientific discipline
- Demonstrated experience writing and managing successful grant proposals for scientific research
- Strong expertise in genomic research, molecular biology, or life sciences
- Excellent scientific writing and technical communication skills
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with researchers across diverse backgrounds and levels
- Strong organizational and project management skills
