Southeast Ecology Team Lead

About the Role

The Southeast Environmental Planning and Permitting Department is building a specialized ecology practice to support growing demand in transportation and utility infrastructure projects. We're seeking an experienced environmental scientist to lead our ecology team, directing technical investigations and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards across the region.

What You'll Do

• Lead and oversee ecological field investigations, including stream and wetland delineations for linear infrastructure projects
• Direct protected species assessments and habitat surveys to support environmental compliance
• Manage ecology team activities and deliverables on transportation and utility projects
• Conduct or supervise detailed environmental field studies
• Develop technical reports and environmental assessments for client and regulatory review
• Collaborate with project teams to integrate ecological findings into permitting strategies

What We're Looking For

• Advanced degree in environmental science, ecology, biology, or related field
• Extensive hands-on experience with stream and wetland delineation methods
• Proven expertise in protected species investigations and habitat assessments
• Strong background working on linear transportation and utility infrastructure projects
• Senior-level technical knowledge and field experience in ecology
• Leadership capability to manage and mentor an ecology team
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Familiarity with environmental regulations and permitting processes
