About the Role

As Embedded Software Engineer für innovative Funklösungen in der Maschinensteuerung at NBB Controls + Components GmbH, you will design and develop embedded firmware for cutting-edge wireless machine control products. Based on-site in Ölbronn-Dürrn (this position is not remote), you will work within structured development processes and collaborate closely with hardware and software colleagues to bring reliable, safety-conscious solutions to life.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, conceive, and write hardware-near firmware for embedded systems in C/C++ using structured development methods
• Integrate, test, and commission prototypes and production samples on target hardware such as MSP430 and ARM Cortex platforms
• Build test cases, develop automated tests, and troubleshoot software for both new and existing products
• Contribute to risk analyses and implement functional safety requirements
• Maintain code quality and development documentation for internal use and for external certification bodies
• Work hand-in-hand with other developers using established tooling such as Git, Jira, and CI/CD pipelines

Qualifications

• A completed degree in electrical engineering, mechatronics, technical computer science, or a comparable qualification
• Several years of professional experience in embedded software development, ideally with ARM-based microcontrollers
• Familiarity with functional safety development workflows spanning requirements specification, design, testing (e.g. TESSY), and documentation
• Hands-on experience commissioning PCBs and assemblies, debugging, and working with measurement equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers
• A systematic, analytical, and independent working style, plus strong teamwork and confident communication in both German and English
• Ideally, knowledge of high-frequency engineering, communications technology, or electromagnetic compatibility
• Experience with TI MSP430, ARM Cortex-R/M bare-metal development and FreeRTOS, IAR Embedded Workbench, TI Code Composer Studio, GCC, Git, Jira/Confluence, CI/CD, and TESSY is welcome
