Software Engineer – Data Platform

Continental is recruiting a Software Engineer – Data Platform to join our Information Technology team in Bengaluru, KA, IN. In this full-time position, you will design and optimise the data infrastructure that powers our global operations, working with modern engineering practices to build scalable platforms that enable data-driven decision-making across the organisation.

The Opportunity

As our Data Platform Software Engineer in Bengaluru, you will architect and maintain the data systems that connect Continental's operations worldwide. This is an opportunity to take ownership of critical infrastructure—the platforms, pipelines, and tools that teams depend on to access insights and make decisions at scale. You'll collaborate with data analysts, scientists, and product teams to understand their needs and translate them into robust, performant solutions.

Core Duties

• Design, build, and deploy scalable data pipelines and platforms that ingest, process, and serve data reliably
• Optimise data architecture for performance, cost-effectiveness, and maintainability across diverse use cases
• Develop and maintain APIs and tools that enable self-service access to data for internal teams
• Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting to ensure platform reliability and diagnose issues quickly
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions
• Conduct code reviews and share knowledge to help the team raise its engineering standards
• Contribute to documentation and runbooks to support platform adoption and operational excellence

What You Bring

• Strong proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, Java, Scala, Go, or equivalent) for building data systems
• Solid understanding of data warehousing, data lakes, ETL pipelines, and stream processing concepts
• Experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) or on-premises data infrastructure
• Familiarity with SQL and experience querying and optimising relational or NoSQL databases
• Proven ability to write clean, testable code and participate in code review processes
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to debug complex systems under pressure
• Good communication skills—able to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience)
