Northrop Grumman is hiring a Sentinel Principal Structural Engineer for our facility in Roy, Weber County. As a full-time principal-level engineer, you'll lead structural design and analysis efforts on advanced defense and aerospace systems that operate globally and serve critical national missions.
About the Role
This position demands deep expertise in structural engineering principles, advanced analysis methodologies, and cross-functional collaboration within a dynamic manufacturing and development environment. You will shape critical structural designs that must meet the highest performance, reliability, and safety standards. A Secret security clearance is required; relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.
What You'll Do
- Lead structural design and analysis for complex mechanical and aerospace systems
- Develop and validate finite element models and computational analyses to predict system performance
- Establish structural design criteria, load cases, and verification methods aligned with defense and industry standards
- Mentor junior engineers and guide technical teams through design reviews and problem-solving
- Collaborate with systems engineers, manufacturing, and quality teams to transition designs from concept through production
- Travel approximately 10% of the time for customer engagement, site visits, or technical support
What We're Looking For
- PE license or equivalent professional qualification in mechanical or structural engineering
- 12+ years of hands-on structural engineering experience, with demonstrated principal-level responsibility
- Advanced proficiency with structural analysis software and CAD tools
- Strong understanding of materials, fastening, and manufacturing processes
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
- Excellent communication and leadership skills in cross-functional settings
