Black & Veatch is hiring a Senior Project Engineering Manager for our Water and Wastewater division. This is a full-time position based in North Carolina, with opportunities in Winston-Salem, Charlotte, Cary, or other locations across our network.

About the Role

As a Senior Project Engineering Manager at Black & Veatch, you will lead the planning, design, and delivery of complex water and wastewater infrastructure projects. You'll oversee technical teams, manage project schedules and budgets, and ensure that solutions meet client expectations and regulatory requirements. This role combines hands-on engineering expertise with project leadership, requiring you to balance innovation, compliance, and operational excellence.

What You'll Do

• Direct project teams through all phases of water and wastewater treatment facility design and construction
• Develop project scopes, budgets, and schedules while tracking performance against established baselines
• Coordinate with clients, regulatory agencies, and internal departments to resolve technical and logistical challenges
• Review engineering designs for compliance with industry codes, environmental standards, and project specifications
• Mentor junior engineers and support team professional development
• Identify opportunities to improve project efficiency and implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering
• Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in your state
• 10+ years of experience in water or wastewater engineering and project management
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects
• Strong knowledge of treatment processes, regulations (NPDES, CWA), and infrastructure design standards
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
• Proficiency with project management tools and CAD software
