About the Role
Leidos is seeking a talented Senior Software Defined Radio Engineer to advance Electronic Warfare (EW) capabilities through cutting-edge signal processing and RF system design. You'll take ownership of technical architecture, from concept through field deployment, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver mission-critical systems that counter emerging threats. This role demands both hands-on engineering expertise and the leadership presence to mentor junior staff and shape technical direction.
What You'll Do
- Design and develop software-defined radio systems, waveforms, and signal processing algorithms for EW applications
- Execute end-to-end hardware-software integration, including FPGA development, embedded firmware, and real-time systems
- Conduct validation, testing, and performance analysis of radio systems in operational environments
- Lead technical requirements definition and architecture documentation for complex EW programs
- Collaborate with customers, systems engineers, and cross-functional teams to translate mission needs into engineered solutions
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement of design practices and tools
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline
- 5+ years of experience designing and implementing software-defined radio systems or related RF/signal processing work
- Strong expertise in FPGA design, embedded C/C++, and real-time systems
- Solid foundation in digital signal processing, communications theory, and RF systems
- Experience with commercial or military SDR platforms (USRP, COTS systems, or equivalent)
- Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance or ability to obtain one
- Excellent technical communication and documentation skills
