About the Role

As a Lead Electrician at Alliant Energy's Southern Area Operations, you'll oversee electrical installation, maintenance, and repair work for distribution and service lines. You'll supervise crew activities, ensure compliance with all electrical codes and safety standards, and manage the technical aspects of electrical systems that serve residential, commercial, and industrial customers throughout the service territory.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and coordinate electrical work teams on distribution, transmission, and service projects
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical equipment, wiring, and systems according to blueprints and specifications
  • Troubleshoot electrical problems and implement solutions in field conditions
  • Inspect electrical work to verify adherence to codes, safety regulations, and company standards
  • Operate and maintain electrical tools, equipment, and testing devices
  • Communicate with crew members and management about project status and safety concerns
  • Support emergency restoration efforts when needed

What We're Looking For

  • Current IBEW Local 965 membership or eligibility
  • Journeyman electrician experience with proven leadership capability
  • Strong knowledge of electrical codes and safety practices
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints and technical drawings
  • Physical ability to work in outdoor conditions, at heights, and in various weather
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
