Seasonal Archaeology Field Technician

Stantec is hiring a seasonal Archaeology Field Technician for a full-time position based in Uptown, Marion County. Join our environmental and cultural resource management team to contribute directly to archaeological investigations that preserve and document important heritage sites across the region.

About the Role

As an Archaeology Field Technician, you'll support professional archaeologists and environmental specialists in the field, playing a key role in survey work, excavation, and site documentation. This seasonal position offers hands-on experience in a dynamic field environment where attention to detail and teamwork are essential.

What You'll Do

• Conduct archaeological survey and excavation work at project sites throughout Marion County
• Document and photograph artifacts, features, and stratigraphic layers following standard protocols
• Record field observations, measurements, and site conditions in detailed notes and sketches
• Handle, catalog, and organize artifacts and samples according to established procedures
• Assist with mapping, screening, and processing of excavated materials
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and equipment
• Follow all health and safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment
• Collaborate with archaeologists, cultural resource managers, and team members

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Physical ability to work outdoors for extended periods and perform manual labor
• Excellent attention to detail and observation skills
• Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
• Ability to follow instructions carefully and work independently or as part of a team
• Willingness to work in varied weather conditions and terrain
• Reliable transportation to and from the Uptown work area
• Prior fieldwork, archaeology, or cultural resource experience is a plus but not required
