Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, this role is pivotal in driving scientific research and innovation that supports sustainable environmental stewardship.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of science-based strategies for land and sea management within Indigenous communities.
• Collaborate with local Aboriginal organisations to integrate traditional ecological knowledge with contemporary scientific practices.
• Promote research initiatives that enhance understanding of environmental impacts and develop solutions to address them.
• Support the integration of science into policy-making processes, ensuring that decisions are informed by both Indigenous and Western scientific perspectives.

What You Bring

• A relevant postgraduate degree in a field such as Environmental Science, Ecology, or Indigenous Knowledge Systems.
• Demonstrated experience in leading interdisciplinary teams and projects focused on environmental conservation and management.
• Strong communication skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders including government agencies, non-profits, and community groups.
• A commitment to fostering positive relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities through collaborative research and practice.
