Shawnee Mission School District is hiring a full-time Elementary Resource Teacher (1.0 FTE) for the 2026-27 school year, serving students across a split assignment between Corinth and Tomahawk elementary schools in the US.
About the Role
This licensed special education position supports elementary learners through a resource model, with your time divided evenly between two campuses — 0.5 FTE at Corinth and 0.5 FTE at Tomahawk. As a Resource Teacher reporting directly to the building principal, you will help students with diverse learning needs access grade-level curriculum and reach their individual goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver specialized resource instruction to elementary students across the Corinth and Tomahawk buildings.
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligned with each student's needs.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, families, and support staff to coordinate services across both campuses.
- Track student progress and adjust instructional strategies to drive measurable growth.
- Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with district and special education requirements.
Qualifications
- Valid licensure to teach Special Education at the elementary level.
- Knowledge of resource-room practices, IEP development, and differentiated instruction.
- Strong communication and organizational skills to manage a split assignment across two schools.
- Commitment to inclusive, student-centered education.
Contract Details
- Employment type: Full-time, 1.0 FTE.
- Position type: Special Education — Licensed / Resource.
- Contract length: 190 days for new teachers; 187 days for returning teachers.
- Assignment: 0.5 at Corinth and 0.5 at Tomahawk.
- Reports to: Building Principal.
