SER Paraprofessional – 7 hrs

Shawnee Mission School District is hiring a full-time SER Paraprofessional at Arrowhead in Saint Louis County — a hands-on support role for special education students that runs 7 hours per day across a 185-day school calendar, starting at $19.11/hour on the CLAS Range D salary schedule.

About the Role

As an SER Paraprofessional at Arrowhead, you will work directly alongside licensed special education staff to deliver individualized instruction and daily support to students receiving special education services. This position is a critical part of the classroom team, helping students access the general curriculum while honoring each child's Individualized Education Program (IEP).

What You'll Do

• Provide direct, one-on-one and small-group instructional support to students with identified special education needs under the direction of a licensed special education teacher
• Implement IEP goals, accommodations, and behavior intervention strategies as directed
• Assist students with academic tasks, social skill development, and daily routines throughout the school day
• Monitor and document student progress, behavior, and response to instruction
• Support students during transitions, lunch, and other non-instructional periods as assigned
• Collaborate with teachers, related service providers, and building staff to maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment
• Follow all district policies, confidentiality requirements, and IEP protocols

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework or paraprofessional certification preferred
• Experience working with children or adolescents with disabilities, behavioral needs, or diverse learning profiles
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions from licensed staff with consistency and care
• Strong interpersonal skills and genuine patience working with students who have varying needs
• Commitment to maintaining student dignity, confidentiality, and a positive classroom climate
• Flexibility to adapt to changing student and classroom needs throughout the school day
