Join Shawnee Mission School District as a full-time mathematics teacher at our West Ridge middle school in Mississippi County for the 2026-27 school year. About the Role
This is a 1.0 FTE (full-time equivalent) teaching position offering a 190-day contract for new educators or 187 days for returning staff members. You'll be at the heart of our middle school's math program, directly shaping how students understand core concepts and build academic momentum.
What You'll Do
- Plan and deliver engaging mathematics lessons aligned with state standards and district curriculum
- Assess student understanding through formative and summative evaluations, adjusting instruction to meet diverse learning needs
- Create a supportive classroom environment where students feel safe taking intellectual risks and asking questions
- Communicate regularly with families about student progress, strengths, and growth areas
- Collaborate with fellow teachers to refine instructional practices and support school initiatives
- Maintain detailed records and participate in professional development activities
What We're Looking For
- Valid state teaching license for middle school mathematics
- Strong command of mathematics content and pedagogy
- Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction for learners at varying levels
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
