Esland is recruiting a full-time Children's Residential Support Worker to join our team at Birch House in Gainsborough, supporting young people within a comprehensive residential care service that operates 365 days a year.
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated residential support worker to provide hands-on care and supervision in our Birch House residential setting in Gainsborough. This is a full-time, shift-based position working a rota of 2 days on, 4 days off, with sleep-in shifts included, totalling 173 hours per month. Your shifts will be planned and communicated well in advance. The salary for this role is £32,242 to £32,865 per annum, calculated on 6 sleep-in nights per month at an hourly rate of £13.45 to £13.75. We also offer opportunities to undertake overtime at an enhanced rate for those interested in additional hours. As a 365-day service, this role is vital to ensuring young people receive consistent, continuous support throughout the year.
Core Duties
- Provide day-to-day residential supervision, personal care, and practical support
- Support young people with daily routines, meals, homework assistance, and leisure activities
- Create and maintain a safe, clean, welcoming residential environment
- Build trusting relationships and offer emotional support to young people in your care
- Maintain comprehensive records and share relevant information with the residential team
- Implement individualised care plans and respond sensitively to safeguarding concerns
- Contribute to an atmosphere where young people feel secure, valued, and supported in their development
Requirements
- Relevant experience working with children or young people in a residential, educational, or care setting
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships
- Capacity to work independently and as part of a cohesive residential team
- Sound understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and duty of care principles
- Flexibility and reliability to work variable shift patterns including sleep-in placements
- Resilience, patience, and genuine commitment to supporting young people's wellbeing and independence
- Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
