American Enterprise Institute
The American Enterprise Institute is seeking a full-time Research Assistant in Economic Policy Studies to join our Washington, D.C. office. This on-site position offers the opportunity to support accomplished scholars in developing rigorous policy research on taxation, public finance, and international economic matters. The position begins in summer 2026.
About the Role
You'll work directly with our policy fellows and senior researchers in our Washington, D.C. headquarters, providing essential analytical and administrative support to ongoing economic research initiatives. This is an ideal role for someone passionate about contributing to evidence-based policy solutions at the national level.
What You'll Do
- Conduct literature reviews and compile data to support policy research and analysis
- Assist fellows in developing research on taxation, fiscal policy, and macroeconomic topics
- Prepare research materials, executive summaries, and background documents
- Contribute to the development of policy briefs, reports, and public communications
- Coordinate research meetings, seminars, and policy forums
- Maintain research databases and reference materials
What We're Looking For
- Recent graduate or current student with strong academic performance in economics, public policy, finance, or a related discipline
- Demonstrated interest in economic policy, tax policy, fiscal issues, or international macroeconomics
- Strong research, writing, and analytical capabilities
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work both independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and Microsoft Office applications
- Genuine commitment to understanding policy challenges and advancing evidence-based solutions
