We're seeking an experienced physical therapist to join our newly expanded acute rehabilitation facility dedicated to helping patients regain mobility, independence, and quality of life.

Position Summary

Northwest Specialty Hospital is affiliated with Northern Nevada Medical Center and operates a modern facility at 6225 Sharlands Ave in Northwest Reno serving patients in acute rehabilitation and adult behavioral health. As an Acute Rehab Physical Therapist, you'll deliver evidence-based physical therapy interventions to patients recovering from surgery, injury, or illness. You'll work collaboratively within our interdisciplinary team—including occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, physicians, and nursing staff—to design personalized treatment plans that accelerate recovery and restore functional independence.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive physical assessments and document baseline functional status for acute rehabilitation patients
• Design and implement individualized physical therapy treatment protocols targeting strength, mobility, balance, and activities of daily living
• Progress patients through rehabilitation milestones while monitoring clinical outcomes and adjusting interventions accordingly
• Educate patients and families on therapeutic exercises, equipment use, and home safety modifications
• Participate in interdisciplinary team conferences to coordinate care across speech therapy, occupational therapy, nursing, and physician services
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation of patient progress and therapy outcomes per regulatory and facility standards

Skills & Qualifications

• Current Nevada state licensure as a Physical Therapist (PT)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in acute care or acute rehabilitation settings
• Strong understanding of orthopedic, neurological, and cardiopulmonary conditions common in rehabilitation medicine
• Proficiency with electronic health records and ability to document therapy efficiently
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
• Compassion for patients navigating recovery and commitment to evidence-based clinical practice
