Region Landfill Engineer

Waste Connections is hiring a Region Landfill Engineer based in Warrenton, Warren County. In this full-time position, you'll take a hands-on leadership role overseeing landfill operations across multiple locations, working at the intersection of infrastructure, compliance, and environmental stewardship. This is a field-driven engineering role that requires both strategic thinking and practical problem-solving on the ground.

About the Role

As Region Landfill Engineer, you'll be responsible for the operational oversight and technical leadership of landfill facilities within the region. This is not a desk-bound position — you'll spend significant time on-site, evaluating equipment performance, monitoring compliance, and driving continuous improvement across our operations.

What You'll Do

• Oversee engineering and operational performance across multiple landfill facilities in the region
• Ensure all operations meet or exceed environmental regulations and safety standards
• Conduct site inspections, technical assessments, and infrastructure evaluations
• Lead projects related to equipment upgrades, facility improvements, and operational efficiency
• Partner with operations teams and management to solve complex operational challenges
• Monitor and report on environmental metrics, equipment status, and regulatory compliance
• Provide technical guidance and support to field operations staff
• Develop and implement best practices for waste management and site management

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field
• Professional Engineering (PE) license or willingness to pursue licensure
• Experience in waste management, landfill operations, or related environmental and infrastructure roles
• Strong knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations
• Proven ability to lead projects and work collaboratively across teams
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the region
• Comfort working outdoors and on-site at active landfill facilities
