The Department of the Air Force is seeking a Public Affairs Specialist with Security Clearance for a full‑time position located in Moffett, Sequoyah County.

About the Role

This is a T32 Excepted Service appointment, indefinite in nature, with a maximum term of five years. The role is classified at the GS‑1035‑12 level, and the selectee may be eligible for non‑competitive conversion to a permanent position when funding or position availability permits.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and implement public affairs plans that align with Air Force missions and community engagement goals.
  • Write and edit press releases, fact sheets, speeches, and talking points for senior leadership.
  • Arrange media interviews, press conferences, and public events, and public outreach activities.
  • Oversee social media accounts and digital content to ensure timely and accurate information sharing.
  • Handle media inquiries and public information requests in compliance with Air Force policies.
  • Provide counsel to commanders on communication strategies, message clarity, and stakeholder relations.
  • Create multimedia products such as videos, photographs, and infographics that showcase unit accomplishments.
  • Maintain documentation of public affairs initiatives and monitor media coverage for accuracy and tone.

What We're Looking For

  • U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
  • Demonstrated experience in public affairs, media relations, or corporate communications, preferably within a federal or military environment.
  • Strong writing and editing abilities, with skill in translating technical details into clear, audience‑appropriate messages.
  • Proficiency with standard office applications, digital publishing tools, and major social media platforms.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and confidence interacting with senior officials, journalists, and the public.
  • Familiarity with Air Force organization, policies, and public affairs regulations (e.g., AFI 35‑101).
  • Capability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast‑paced setting.
