Project Safety Manager

Christman is hiring a Project Safety Manager for our Grand Rapids office to lead safety initiatives across construction projects in Kent County and throughout West Michigan.

About the Role

As our Project Safety Manager, you'll oversee all safety planning, compliance, and risk management activities on assigned construction projects. This full-time position is responsible for embedding safety excellence into every phase of project delivery and ensuring our teams return home safe each day.

What You'll Do

• Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive project safety plans aligned with OSHA standards and company procedures
• Conduct daily site inspections, hazard assessments, and toolbox talks with construction crews
• Lead incident investigations, document findings, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
• Maintain safety documentation, compliance records, and regulatory permits
• Train and mentor construction teams on safety protocols, equipment use, and best practices
• Collaborate with project managers and subcontractors to integrate safety into all operations
• Track and analyze safety metrics to identify trends and drive continuous performance improvement

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience managing safety on construction projects or in a related field
• OSHA 30-Hour certification or ability to obtain it, with current knowledge of safety regulations
• Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence safety behavior across all levels
• Excellent attention to detail and documentation practices
• Problem-solving mindset and ability to work both independently and collaboratively
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel between active job sites
