Principal or Sr Principal Field Engineer (Network)

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal or Senior Principal Field Engineer specializing in Network systems for our team in South Base, Houston County. In this full-time leadership role, you'll design and deploy advanced network infrastructure while leading technical teams and driving innovation across mission-critical defense and aerospace programs.

About the Role

This position offers the opportunity to lead complex network engineering initiatives from concept through field implementation. You'll own the technical direction of enterprise-scale network architecture projects, work directly with government and commercial customers, and mentor engineering teams while solving some of the industry's most demanding infrastructure challenges.

What You'll Do

• Design, architect, and oversee implementation of advanced network systems and infrastructure
• Lead field deployment, integration, and optimization of network solutions at customer locations
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams across multiple projects
• Diagnose and resolve complex network issues in operational, high-reliability environments
• Conduct technical assessments, feasibility analyses, and architecture reviews for network modernization
• Partner with systems engineers, software developers, program managers, and customers to deliver integrated solutions
• Travel approximately 10% of the time to support field operations and customer engagements

What We're Looking For

• Extensive experience (15+ years) in network engineering, field operations, and infrastructure deployment
• Demonstrated expertise in network architecture, design, and large-scale system implementation
• Proven track record leading technical teams and mentoring junior engineers
• Strong knowledge of network security, DoD/federal compliance standards, and government protocols
• Active Secret-level security clearance or ability to obtain one (required to commence employment)
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline (or equivalent professional experience)
• Excellent cross-functional communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences
• Ability to travel as needed for field support and customer interaction
