Preconstruction Manager

Gallant seeks an experienced Preconstruction Manager to lead construction planning, cost management, and vendor coordination for commercial projects in the Houston area. This full-time position, based in Candlelight Forest West, reports directly to the Vice President and offers hands-on responsibility for shaping project success before construction begins.

The Opportunity

In this role, you'll own the preconstruction phase for assigned projects—the phase where precision planning separates on-time, on-budget delivery from costly surprises. You'll partner with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and clients to translate designs into realistic budgets, schedules, and procurement strategies. Your analysis and foresight directly drive profitability and client satisfaction across Gallant's commercial portfolio.

Core Duties

• Develop comprehensive cost estimates and project budgets based on design documents and market conditions
• Negotiate with vendors and coordinate with subcontractors to lock in realistic pricing and availability
• Conduct detailed design reviews for constructability, quality, and code compliance
• Prepare preconstruction reports, proposals, and bid documents for client and internal stakeholder review
• Create detailed project schedules identifying dependencies, durations, and critical path items
• Identify and communicate cost and schedule risks early to enable proactive mitigation
• Maintain accurate project documentation and cost tracking through all preconstruction stages

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in construction estimating, preconstruction management, or related role
• Solid understanding of commercial construction methods, materials, and building codes
• Proficiency with estimating software, scheduling tools, and project management platforms
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for vendor, client, and team interaction
• Ability to balance multiple projects and deadlines without sacrificing quality
• Analytical mindset with keen attention to detail and problem-solving orientation
• Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience
