About This Opportunity

As a Permitting Specialist with Adapture Renewables, you'll navigate the environmental and regulatory pathways that bring large-scale photovoltaic and battery storage projects to life. Our Development team depends on skilled permitting professionals who can move projects forward efficiently while maintaining rigorous compliance with all applicable laws and agency requirements. Based in Oakland, you'll work across Alameda County and throughout California on projects that directly support the clean energy transition.

What You'll Do

  • Shepherd utility-scale solar and battery energy storage projects through state and local permitting processes
  • Prepare, compile, and submit permit applications, environmental assessments, and agency filings
  • Interface with federal, state, and local agencies to obtain necessary approvals and manage ongoing compliance
  • Coordinate project timelines and communications across internal teams and external stakeholders during the permitting phase
  • Conduct environmental analysis and ensure adherence to CEQA, NEPA, and California-specific regulatory requirements
  • Troubleshoot permitting obstacles and work with engineering and development teams to find workable solutions
  • Stay current on regulatory updates and policy changes affecting renewable energy development in California

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience in utility-scale renewable energy permitting or similar large-scale infrastructure projects
  • Working knowledge of environmental review processes, particularly CEQA and NEPA
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and meet strict regulatory deadlines
  • Strong written and oral communication skills for agency interactions and internal collaboration
  • Solid understanding of California state and local permitting frameworks
  • Detail-oriented, organized approach to managing regulatory documentation and project records
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, planning, engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent hands-on experience)
