Part-time Instructors – Adult Education Program

Nassau BOCES is seeking Part-time Instructors for its Adult Education Program at the Barry Tech - Adult Evening - Westbury site, serving learners across the United States.

This part‑time position supports evening classes that help adult students gain career‑ready skills in technical fields. Instructors work a flexible schedule that aligns with the program’s evening hours and contribute to a collaborative teaching environment focused on student success.

What You'll Do

• Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans that meet curriculum standards for adult learners.
• Facilitate hands‑on activities and discussions that reinforce concepts in areas such as advanced manufacturing and robotics.
• Assess student progress through assignments, projects, and informal checks, providing timely feedback.
• Maintain accurate attendance records, grades, and other required documentation in accordance with BOCES policies.
• Adapt instructional strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and levels of prior experience.
• Participate in department meetings, professional development sessions, and program planning as needed.
• Ensure a safe, respectful classroom atmosphere that encourages adult student engagement.

What We're Looking For

• Proven expertise in a technical discipline relevant to the adult education evening program (e.g., manufacturing, robotics, electronics, or a related CTE area).
• Experience teaching or training adult audiences, or a strong background in workforce development.
• Ability to design clear, objectives‑based instruction and to assess learning outcomes effectively.
• Strong communication skills and comfort presenting complex material to varied skill levels.
• Availability to work evening hours on a part‑time basis, consistent with the program schedule.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment and adhering to BOCES standards of conduct.
• Basic proficiency with common educational technology tools and learning management systems.
