About the Role

As Medical Director (Medical Education - Publications) at VML in Grand Central, Manhattan, you will lead the scientific and editorial vision behind medical education and publications programs. This on-site role blends deep clinical expertise with strategic communication, ensuring that complex scientific data is translated into accurate, compelling, and credible content for healthcare audiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide scientific leadership and clinical direction across medical education and publication initiatives.
• Develop, review, and oversee high-quality publications, manuscripts, abstracts, and educational deliverables for accuracy and integrity.
• Partner with creative, account, and client teams to shape evidence-based strategies and messaging.
• Serve as a trusted scientific advisor to clients and internal stakeholders throughout program development.
• Ensure all content adheres to industry standards, compliance requirements, and good publication practices.
• Mentor and guide writers and scientific staff to elevate the quality of medical communications.

Qualifications

• Advanced scientific or medical degree (such as PhD, PharmD, or MD) with strong knowledge of clinical research and therapeutic areas.
• Demonstrated experience in medical education, scientific publications, or medical communications, ideally within an agency setting.
• Proven ability to interpret clinical data and translate it into clear, audience-appropriate content.
• Excellent editorial, writing, and presentation skills paired with sharp attention to detail.
• Strong collaboration and leadership capabilities, with experience guiding cross-functional teams.
• Familiarity with publication guidelines and regulatory and compliance standards in healthcare communications.
