Maintenance Mechanic, Rahway – Central, NJ

Columbia Bank is seeking a Full-Time Maintenance Mechanic for its Rahway, Union County, New Jersey location.

About the Role

This position supports the upkeep of bank facilities by performing a variety of maintenance tasks that require proficiency in multiple trades. The mechanic works independently and as part of a team to keep buildings, equipment, and grounds in safe, operating condition.

What You'll Do

• Conduct routine inspections of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and lighting systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance and timely repairs on bank equipment and building components.
• Handle general carpentry, painting, and minor renovation work as needed.
• Maintain exterior grounds, including landscaping, snow removal, and sidewalk upkeep.
• Respond to emergency service requests and coordinate with external vendors when necessary.
• Document work performed, parts used, and follow safety protocols for all tasks.
• Assist with setup and teardown of branch events or special projects.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies and local building codes.

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in a trade is a plus.
• Proven experience as a maintenance technician, mechanic, or similar role in commercial or institutional settings.
• Skill in at least three of the following areas: electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, or general building maintenance.
• Ability to read schematics, troubleshoot faults, and implement effective solutions.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort using hand and power tools.
• Reliable, detail‑oriented, and capable of working flexible hours when required.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between nearby branches if needed.
