About the Role

The Legal Rhetoric Program Graduate Teaching Fellow at American University will support the development and delivery of courses in legal rhetoric. This role is integral to enhancing students' skills in persuasive writing and oral argumentation within a law school setting. The fellow will work closely with faculty members to design, teach, and evaluate curricula that align with the program's objectives.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Teach courses in legal rhetoric as assigned by the department head
• Develop lesson plans and instructional materials aligned with program goals
• Evaluate student performance through assignments, exams, and presentations
• Provide feedback to students on their written and oral work
• Participate in curriculum development and assessment activities
• Collaborate with faculty members to enhance the quality of teaching and learning experiences

Requirements

• AJD or JSD degree from an ABA-accredited law school
• Strong background in legal rhetoric, argumentation, and writing

• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
• A passion for teaching and mentoring law students
