K-8 Teacher (Target Content Target School) – SPED Autistic Teacher

About the Role

As a K-8 SPED Autism Teacher at our Westwego location, you'll deliver specialized instruction tailored to meet the individual learning needs of students with autism. You'll collaborate with special education teams, general education teachers, families, and support staff to create individualized education plans (IEPs) and implement evidence-based instructional strategies. Your work directly impacts student progress in academic, social, and functional skills while helping students transition successfully toward independence and post-secondary opportunities.

What You'll Do

• Plan, deliver, and assess specialized instruction aligned with state standards and IEP goals for students with autism spectrum disorder
• Develop and implement behavior intervention plans and social-emotional learning strategies
• Maintain detailed records of student progress and communicate regularly with families and IEP teams
• Collaborate with special education coordinators, general education staff, and related service providers to support inclusive classroom environments
• Create a positive, structured learning environment that promotes student confidence and skill development

What We're Looking For

• Current Louisiana teacher certification or eligibility for special education
• Knowledge of autism spectrum disorder, evidence-based teaching practices, and differentiated instruction
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with families, educators, and support teams
• Commitment to equity, student growth, and creating inclusive school cultures
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution

Teachers selected for our target schools—which serve high percentages of economically disadvantaged students and English language learners—receive a $2,000 stipend during their first year at the school.
