National Equity Fund is seeking an experienced Head of LIHTC Originations to lead our national originations team in West Loop, Chicago. About the Role
As Head of LIHTC Originations, you'll guide National Equity Fund's tax credit sourcing and transaction development nationwide. This leadership position combines strategic oversight with hands-on involvement in complex affordable housing finance, positioning you at the center of NEF's mission to build sustainable communities through innovative financial solutions.
What You'll Do
- Lead and develop the LIHTC originations team, setting performance standards and supporting professional growth
- Establish and execute originations strategy to grow National Equity Fund's Low-Income Housing Tax Credit transaction volume
- Identify, evaluate, and structure LIHTC investment opportunities working with developers, nonprofits, and institutional partners
- Oversee deal sourcing, financial modeling, and underwriting for housing projects nationwide
- Manage compliance with IRS regulations, state LIHTC allocation procedures, and NEF's investment criteria
- Build and maintain key partnerships with project sponsors, lenders, and government agencies
- Report on originations performance, pipeline metrics, and strategic initiatives to executive leadership
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience in LIHTC originations, affordable housing finance, or related real estate syndication
- Track record leading teams in fast-paced, mission-driven environments
- Deep knowledge of Low-Income Housing Tax Credits, qualified allocation plans, and IRS compliance requirements
- Strong financial analysis skills and experience structuring complex real estate transactions
- Excellent relationship-building abilities with nonprofits, government partners, and lenders
- Demonstrated commitment to affordable housing and community development
