About This Position

The Grassroots Manager at AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) is responsible for planning and executing grassroots advocacy campaigns. This role focuses on engaging local communities to support evidence-based policy solutions aimed at eliminating cancer as a major health problem in Texas. The position is full-time, with the flexibility of remote work from Greater Austin or San Antonio areas.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement grassroots advocacy strategies targeting state legislatures and local jurisdictions.
• Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including community leaders, elected officials, and partner organizations.
• Organize and facilitate community events and meetings to educate and mobilize constituents on cancer-related issues.
• Monitor legislative developments and provide timely updates to leadership and staff.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of advocacy efforts and adjust strategies as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in public policy, political science, or a related field; master’s preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in grassroots advocacy, community organizing, or related fields.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
• Experience working on legislative issues and understanding of the legislative process.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
