Harvard Community Unit School District 50 is seeking a dedicated Boys Golf Assistant Coach to join our athletics program in Harvard, Illinois. In this full-time position, you'll partner with our Head Coach to develop student-athletes' technical skills while fostering values of discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship on and off the course.

About the Role

As an Assistant Coach, you'll play a key role in shaping young golfers' development and competitive achievement. Working closely with the Head Coach, you'll deliver instruction, feedback, and mentorship to help students reach their potential while promoting a positive, supportive team environment.

What You'll Do

  • Assist the Head Coach in planning and delivering coaching sessions focused on golf technique, course management, and mental toughness
  • Provide individual instruction and constructive feedback to student-athletes to improve their skills
  • Lead practice drills, strength and conditioning work, and competitive match preparation
  • Model and reinforce expectations around discipline, respect, and academic integrity
  • Communicate regularly with student-athletes about their progress and development
  • Contribute to a team culture that emphasizes teamwork, integrity, and personal growth

What We're Looking For

  • Current ISBE teaching certificate or active ASEP certification
  • Completion of IHSA Concussion Awareness and Performance-Enhancing Drug (PED) testing requirements
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain
  • Strong knowledge of golf fundamentals, rules, and coaching best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with young people in a supportive manner
  • Commitment to athletic integrity, student safety, and inclusive team culture
